Sharon Exley
Sharon Exley〔http://www.architectureisfun.com/who-we-are-resumes-bios/〕〔http://www.amazon.com/Sharon-Exley/e/B0034Q8YYG/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_2〕 (born 1958 in Rhode Island) is an educative designer and author working with communities to bring a vocabulary of design and architecture to children and institutions supporting play and learning. In 1994, she co-founded (Architecture Is Fun, Inc )., a Chicago research-based architecture and design firm with a focus on play, public space and design for kids, families, and communities. In 2011, Exley founded the woman-owned business, Fun Finders, a consulting and procurement company presenting a curated collection of distinctive products, objects of curiosity and custom millwork, décor and furnishings.
==Biography==
Exley received a Masters of Arts in Arts Education with a Museum Emphasis in 2001 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1982, both from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has presented teacher workshops at the Art Institute of Chicago and family architecture workshops at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. Prior to founding her own firms, she worked at Safdie Architects in Somerville, MA and the Chicago and Boston offices of SOM.
Her work has been recognized with numerous honors and awards including American Institute of Architects Awards for the Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo at Lincoln Park Zoo, DuPage Children’s Museum, Kids on the Fly at O'Hare International Airport, and the Evanston Public Library Teen Loft and Children’s Library.
